It's been a rough week for Liam, he's battling a cold and didn't handle himself well at school, so he's missed more than he'd like... He's going to be off again today, because I spent all of yesterday morning going back and forth with his teacher about whether he should be there... and I'm not going to sit in the parking lot waiting for her to say to take him home, so he'll miss another day...
I took him to the doctor on Wednesday and she said that he was fine to go to school... no ear infection, throat infection or chest congestion, but he's still a bit of a snotball and his behaviour is off, so mommy is getting no relief...
Erik has managed to miss all the fun, guess that old adage about breastfeeding and anti-bodies works, because he's the only one in our family not to catch the cold...
It was a bittersweet day yesterday, I boxed up all of Erik's newborn, 0-3 mos, 3-6 months and most of his 6-9 months clothes and gave them to one of Robyn's teachers who just had a baby boy... I'll never have anyone who fits into those sizes again...
My little chunk-a-monk is starting in on 12 months sleepers... the only way the 6 months stuff fits is if it's a two piece outfit... I've decided to skip 9 mos size sleepers though, because the barely fit, so at 3 mos and a week, Erik is wearing 12 mos clothes... even if it's only at night...
Robyn has had some upheavals at school in the past few weeks... her math teacher left to take a job at a high school - something she's probably better suited to, but it means that Robyn and her classmates are getting used to a new teacher and his style... hoping it works out.
At the same time, her science teacher gave birth to a bouncing baby boy last week (the recipient of Erik's prodigious growth) and after only a few days, her carefully planned substitute got a full time job... so they were without a regular sub for a few days and are just getting back into the swing of things there...
She spent those few days getting to know her classmates, playing a 'hi tech' truth or dare game with the help of a classmate's i phone... don't know which one gets me more... class time spent playing truth or dare, or that a 13 year old has an iphone... and I don't...
oh well- it was only a few days, and things seem to be heading back towards normal
The other upheaval at Robyn's school is that her lunch period has moved from 12:45 to 2:00! My highly metabolized kid, who already ate a healthy breakfast at 7:30am is now eating a second breakfast at 8:30 when she gets to school, because they don't even have a locker break where she could shove a granola bar in her mouth between 8:30 and 2pm... apparently the stomach rumbles from the students in her 1:00 class could keep time ... not sure who thought that was a good idea...
On a positive note, we signed her up for a house league soccer team for after school, so she'll have something else to do :-) - as if her schedule wasn't busy enough...
As for me, I'm going just a little stir crazy... I'm looking forward to Liam feeling well enough and getting back into the swing of things at school, so that Erik and I can get out more... I have decided that errands with both boys (and one a little under the weather) is difficult to the point of counter-productive... so we're stuck inside... and Wayne has had a crazy busy week with two late days out of four, so it's been especially tough...
Happy Friday everyone!
