About Immunet:
Immunet, the online security guardian to more than 750,000 moms, dads, kids and other dedicated community members worldwide, has kicked off a challenge to emphasize the importance of Collective Immunity™ for protecting whole communities’ PCs from computer viruses, botnets, worms, Trojans, spyware and keyloggers that can harm their computers or steal cherished digital memories and personal information.
Founded by anti-virus pioneers, Immunet takes a “real-time community” approach to protecting PCs. Unlike traditional antivirus products, which reside on PC hard drives and take between one and 14 days to gather, analyze and deliver updates—often after the threat has mutated, Immunet Protect anti-virus software identifies viruses in real-time and continually delivers antivirus protection via an Internet connection to its community of Immunet Protect users.
Immunet’s Collective Immunity™ technology leverages the power of the Internet (the “Cloud”) to create a network protection effect that keeps Immunet Community members’ personal PCs and the computers of their friends and family safe online without the normal slowdowns and conflicts associated with traditional antivirus approaches. Each time a virus is blocked on one computer in the Immunet Community ALL other computers are instantly protected from the same virus, increasing the speed and level of virus protection with each new member. This collaborative approach uses “strength in numbers” that grows smarter with each new community member.
My Review:
I had actually been product testing a new version of one of the standard anti-virus protection programs and was finding that my computer was slow and becoming somewhat less stable with that product installed, so when the review opportunity for Immunet came across my desk, I knew that I really wanted to do this review. I reviewed their paid upgrade service, which costs $19.95 a year.
Downloading was seamless and quick and I was up and running within minutes. The installation was simple and easy.
I hardly notice it running in the background and it is easily customizable, I can scan daily, weekly or anytime I want to, and scheduling scans was easy to do. I can get instant feedback from my tray and it offers all the same options as the higher priced products out there. I also like that the program updates in real time, since viruses are quicker and deadlier than ever before and I don't want to accidently miss an upgrade that will cause me to lose everything on my laptop.
I like that if I do choose to add another anti-viral protection program to my computer, I can keep Immunet as well. This product is something everyone should have.
A promotion for you:
The company is sponsoring a contest through February 28, 2011, to encourage everyday computer users to view the importance of protecting themselves and their online communities – family, friends, colleagues, neighbors – from computer viruses the same way in which they would band together to restrict the spread of a dangerous illness. Immunet is inviting members of local communities across the U.S. and globally to “immunize” their PCs against the millions of viruses circulating in the Cloud by downloading Immunet Protect Free and then getting as many members of the their personal online community as they can to also download the free antivirus software. During installation of Immunet Protect Free, there is a prompt to Share via Facebook. Anyone who wants to enter the contest should select this option and add their name at the beginning of the pre-populated text in the dialog window. All participants’ names will be entered automatically into the contest to win Immunet Protect Plus, a $19.95 value, for themselves and up to 50 members of their personal online community, plus a $100 cash award. The winner will be selected by a random drawing on March 2, 2011.Disclaimer: I received this product at no cost for the purpose of completing my review. All opinions are my own.
