MMMmonday - Fresh Fruit in Honey Sauce

I love this time of the year, when I can get great fresh local fruit, so I like to take advantage of it and make simple  but yummy desserts, sides and main dishes!  I haven't done a MMMmonday theme month in a while, so I think I'm going to do a month of cooking and baking with fruit!

Fresh Fruit in Honey Sauce (from Chef Joe at wwrecipes.com)

About 3 cups (750 ml) fresh fruits such as apples, pears, peaches, or plums, cored or seeded and cut into chunks
2 cups (500 ml) fresh or canned pineapple, cut into chunks
1 cup (250 ml) water or pineapple juice
1/2 cup (125 ml) honey
1 stick cinnamon
1-2 bananas, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup (60 ml) slivered almonds, lightly toasted*

Combine the fruits (except the bananas), water, honey, and cinnamon stick in a baking dish. Bake covered in a preheated 350F (180C) oven for 40 minutes. Add the banana and return to the oven until heated through, about 5 minutes.

Serve warm garnished with toasted almonds. Serves 4 to 6.

*Since Wayne is allergic to tree nuts, I will often sprinkle this dessert with crushed ginger snaps or other crunchy cookie instead of almonds.   This is also good a la mode!

Please consider sharing one of your favorite recipes on this month's linky - it can include fruit, but doesn't have to .. just link to a yummy recipe so we can all share - I have also made this a blog hop so if you want to make your own MMMmonday post or add the linky to another recipe post, you are welcome to:

Thanks for sharing. Strange how I never thought about putting fruit and honey together. Makes sense though and this sound scrumptious. Thanks!
