Many of you who regularly read my blog know that Liam is struggling with potty training - we're still in a holding pattern were he goes through the motions but doesn't actually use the toilet for anything more than a practice exercise... so when I heard about Big Kid Calls, a new program being offered by Pull-Ups and Target to help encourage kids to use the potty, I was all for it!
You can go to bigkidcalls.com or bigkids.mobi (mobile) and check out the cool calls from either Cinderella or a member of Lightning McQueen's pit crew! You can also set you a call schedule so that your child can experience the thrill of receiving their call when you know it's a good time!
Liam listened to the calls and was really interested in the fact that he'd gotten a call from a 'real race car' - with his Autism, I think he missed some of the call's message - but he was really happy about getting it - and that it was a special call just for him. The call lasted just long enough for him to be excited and interested. For us, it wasn't a true motivator, but I think that with other kids, this could be a really useful tool in the potty training arsenal! One of the things that has come out of the call is that he has taken more ownership of his pull-ups because he talked to the 'race car'!
I also listened to the princess calls, which were very sweet and if you have a child who likes princesses then they will definitely be motivated by the calls!
Target and Pull-ups are offering a $25 Target GC as a giveaway prize for one lucky Acting Balanced reader from the US!
