You'd think that a box of Auntie Anne's Pretzel Mix would be a straightforward opportunity to make yummy soft pretzels in your home, and in a way you'd be right, but the blue and gold box hides many more secrets! You can use the same mix to make dozens of other recipes - everything from pizza dough to what I baked up in my kitchen - cinnamon rolls!
I found the cinnamon roll recipe on the Auntie Anne's website and pulled it up on the iPad.
I followed the basic recipe to the point where I had to set the dough to proof:
Mix the yeast with lukewarm water:
Add in the baking mix and fold it together:
Turn it out onto a surface to kneed it:
Place the kneeded dough into a greased bowl:
Cover with saran wrap and leave it to rise in a warm place:
Once that was completed, I started getting hungry! The next step is what makes this recipe so yummy - I mixed brown sugar, cinnamon and butter together:
Microwaved it:
and once dough had risen and I rolled it out...
I covered the entire surface with yummy, gooey cinnamon sugar:
Then I rolled it, cut it and put it in the pan:
After baking it for just 17 minutes, my kitchen smelled heavenly and I had these yummy cinnamon rolls, all ready for breakfast!
The instructions were amazingly easy to follow and the cinnamon rolls were fabulously good! I have to say that they even rivaled the cinnamon pretzels I get from Auntie Anne's. I can't wait to pick up another box of mix and try one of the other fabulous recipes!
