I had the opportunity to review Young Justice Season 1 Volume 2 over the past few weeks with my family. My husband is a big superhero cartoon fan, so he was pleased to be able to share Young Justice with our kids.
About the Series:
In Young Justice, being a teenager means proving yourself over and over—to peers, parents, teachers, mentors and, ultimately, to yourself. But what if you’re not just a normal teenager? What if you’re a teenage super hero? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you’re worthy of the Justice League? That’s exactly what the members of Young Justice—Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis—will found out, whether they have what it takes to be a proven hero. Based upon characters from DC Comics.
My Review:
This is a fairly family friendly incarnation of the superheros of old that really focuses on the youthful side of things - I personally love seeing the story lines that give 'bit part' characters more depth. The story lines have good lessons about being part of a team, having responsibilities and growing up that can definitely translate to non-superhero kids.
It's hard to come into the series part way along, so I recommend also getting the first volume if you can... I really wish that they would put entire seasons in one DVD package so you could watch the story line from beginning to end, but even with that, you can catch up quickly if you only pick up this volume.
