25 Days of Cookies Day 19 - Hermit Cookies

This recipe is an old family favorite - they're great to make all year round but look good on your cookie tray too!


Hermit Cookies




1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
2 1/2 cups flour
3 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 2 tbsp boiling water
1 lb chopped walnuts
3/4 cup chopped raisins or cranberries

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 325F
  2. Mix together all of the ingredients except the raisins and walnuts.
  3. Add the raisins and walnuts to the mixture and blend thoroughly
  4. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased or lined cookie sheet about 1 1/2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned
