Today I'm interviewing one of my favorite bloggers - I've been following her blogs for years and she has become a great friend and resource on Facebook too! In the hotseat today, I present Ellen from Confesssions of An Overworked Mom and The Socialite's Closet
1.
Tell us a little bit
about your blog:
I have two blogs. Confessions of an Overworked Mom http://confessionsofanover- workedmom.com
started out as a place for me to share my family’s journey toward a more
eco-friendly lifestyle. We live in rural Vermont on two acres and have gardens,
ducks and chickens and fruit trees.
Eventually I started to include books and products that I like as
well. My focus is on eco-friendly, time
saving, gourmet products with a focus on recipes, crafts, fashion, and fitness.
I hope it’s a place that busy moms can really identify with.
I started blogging in
2008 on Confessions of an Overworked Mom.
I like that it helps me connect with other busy moms. Juggling work, kids and household
responsibilities can be really stressful and I found myself feeling like I was the
only one that wasn’t able to handle everything like June Cleaver. Connecting with other moms and sharing my
thoughts has helped me learn that I’m not the only one. I hope that my blog can
help others realize that as well.
3.
Who is the person or
group behind the blog?
The person behind both
blogs would be me. My name is Ellen and I’m a 45 year old woman who juggles a
career in social media, two blogs, two teenagers, a husband and the typical
responsibilities of a wife and mom.
4.
What hobbies/interests
do you have?
I have a bunch of
hobbies. In the warmer weather, I like to garden, walk and go geocaching. I
love to cook, dabble in a variety of crafts, read too much, work too many hours
and go shopping.
5.
If you could invite 4
people (real or fictional, living or dead) to a dinner party, who would you
invite and what would you serve?
I’d probably invite my
Grandparents and a Great Aunt and Uncle to dinner. When they grew up, they lived so close to the
earth and were so self reliant that I would love to talk to them about what
their lives were like. When they were alive, I was too young to appreciate what
they were doing and now it’s too late to learn from them. I would probably make a roast chicken with
vegetables and potatoes and finish off with a homemade cheesecake. That’s the type of meal I remember from my
childhood.
6.
I can’t live without…
Coffee… lots of coffee. I work too many hours and tend to drink way
too much coffee but at least I don’t fall asleep doing laundry that way.
7.
Something people would
be surprised to know about me is…
We have 4 ducks and 5
chickens and in the summer I cook in a solar oven on sunny days.
