This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Walmart Foundation for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
I'm always mindful of how much my family has and how grateful we are that we always have food in our home and in our bellies. It isn't that way for everyone in our community or in many communities around the US.
With unemployment rates in many places still in significant double digits, and worse, the cost of food and necessities rising faster than wages, there is a growing reliance on food banks and soup kitchens - and less of us who can afford to make significant donations!
Walmart is working with four of the most recognizable food brands - ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft and Kellogg's - to support Feeding America, Action for Healthy Kids and local communities in the fight against hunger! 4
Beginning April 9th and ending April 30th, there are two ways to be part of this great project!
The first way is ONLINE:
You can Vote to fight spring hunger with Walmart on their Facebook page and help choose which 21 communities across America will receive a grant. The community with the most votes will be awarded ONE MILLION DOLLARS and twenty runners up will each get $50,000! There are two hundred communities competing - and they all have one thing in common - they have the highest unemployment rates in the nation.
I'll be voting for one of the two SC communities that are up to win - Myrtle Beach or Sumter, but I'm sure you can find a worthwile city to get behind.
The second way in IN-STORE:
Head to your local Walmart and look for in-store signage and packaging to find and purchase products that can help you make a difference! Remember that there are some great brands from ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft and Kellogg's participating so just by heading to Walmart to do your grocery shopping, you'll be able to help out great charities!
So will you be voting, shopping for specially marked foods or giving back in some other way? Leave a comment here and tell me how you'll be part of Fighting Hunger Together...
