I talked to their coach and organizer about their other needs and while they would have been happy to accept more donated items, what they really needed was donations to their bake sale and car wash event to raise money for their end of year banquet and awards...
My daughter was impressed with how many of her teachers and community members turned out to have their cars washed and the kids had a blast getting dirty to clean cars!
I had planned to be back in time to get my car washed too... but their hose sprung a leak and forced them to close early... and the boys conspired against me getting out of the house quickly enough, but I was able to make a donation to the cause anyway... and I hope that their combined efforts will help them to enjoy the pasta dinner and awards night they will be having in May...
Being able to give back to their team project was a great experience for my daughter and her friends and it's programs like Champions for Kids that encourage us to continue to make a difference in our own community. You can check out some great ways to participate by visiting
