She wants to consider going to lunch with them or hang out in other social situations, but worries about "drama" - what advice would you give her?

3. It's also National Dessert Day - what is your favorite 'special' dessert?
4. For all of the Canadians participating, it's Thanksgiving Day, so in honor of that, what are you thankful for?
Our Responses
1. A friend is the only woman in her department at work (and fairly new in her position). She's single and all of her colleagues are male, older and married. She wants to consider going to lunch with them or hang out in other social situations, but worries about "drama" - what advice would you give her?
W - I would ask them just like you would ask any other colleague. Get over yourself, I'm not going to fall over with my legs open for you...
H - I personally would suggest group lunches or events - invite two or more colleagues at a time... until you get to know everyone better. I think it's wise to learn more about who everyone is before deciding about one on one lunches...
2. It's Fire Prevention Week - do you have fire extinguishers? a family exit plan?
H & W - We have one fire extinguisher and are working on teaching the children our exit strategy.
3. It's also National Dessert Day - what is your favorite 'special' dessert?
W - Red Velvet Cake ... followed closely by Coca Cola Cake - my favorite every day dessert is Crisp.
H - My favorite treat is Key Lime Pie... followed by anything Coconut...
4. For all of the Canadians participating, it's Thanksgiving Day, so in honor of that, what are you thankful for?
W - I am thankful for a good night's sleep - I wish I could be thankful more often.
H - I am thankful for family... it hit home especially this week as two of my great-uncles passed away within ten days of each other - both suffering massive strokes. It's hard to be away from everyone and unable to be there to support the families, but they have all been in my thoughts this week.
