If you're looking for a historical romance with humor, mistaken identity and a happy ending, you'll want to check out The Earl's Christmas Colt by Rebecca Thomas!
Lady Arabella Sutton is stunned to learn her brother has betrothed her to a stranger despite his promises for a season in London. Although she is the first to admit no man would suit, since she’s more interested in horses than marriage, the last thing she wants is to become a brood mare to a stuffy old earl. Facing a future she cannot abide, she takes an impetuous ride to clear her head and ends up tending her injured mare instead.
Oliver Westwyck, the Earl of Marsdale, can’t believe his luck when he stops at an inn the night before he’s to meet his fiancĂ©e. In the stable, while tending the colt he intends to give to his future wife, he happens upon her—rain-drenched but beautiful. She assumes he’s a stable hand, a fine joke he means to end...until Lady Arabella declares all noblemen are egotistical, conceited, and arrogant. How can he reveal his true identity before he’s managed to change her mind and win her heart?
My take: An arranged marriage with a Christmas twist... this story was fun and the characters were well developed for a short novella! Ms Thomas dove right in and wove a tale fraught with misdirection, strong opinions and holiday magic.

His ward deserves a reputable governess, so he threatens to give Adriana the sack mere days before Christmas.
If you are looking for something more contemporary - but with the same element of misdirection and even more humor, check out Under the Hood by Sally Clements:
My Take: Another novella with well developed characters who leap off the page! You know who you are dealing with almost from the get go... and the sparks that fly between Mark and Alice mean that this novella has heat, humor and a happy ending!

My Take: Trying to be both naughty and nice can really spice up a romance! I love that both characters aren't afraid to speak their minds and go after what they want - eventually! A fun and fast paced novella!
What about getting a chance to start over again with an unrequited love - only if you get Kiss Me at Midnight by Diane Alberts
My Take: The timing wasn't right when they both had crushes on each other in high school so when they finally got together, they sparks flew, rekindling their desires - this was a great read with steamy scenes and lovable characters.

Told from both Adriana and Alexander's perspectives, this novella has a cat and mouse element that makes you want to keep reading along with a burgeoning romance and respect that makes this a sweet holiday read.
