3. What one movie or two would you say should be on everyone's must see list?

4. If they were going to make a reality show about your life what would it be called?

Our Responses

1. It's International Skeptics day - what are you skeptical about?

W - I am skeptical about anything related to politics or politicians

H - I am skeptical about anything new that claims to be 'revolutionary'

2. Wednesday is National Hat Day - what is your favorite hat?  Do you wear hats often?

W - I used to wear hats all the time, but I don't wear them very often at all any more - I have several baseball caps that I wear on the weekends though.

H - I like hats but I don't wear them as often as I like - my current favorite is a cream colored straw hat with a floral accent that Wayne picked up for me.

3. What one movie or two would you say should be on everyone's must see list?

W - Shawshank Redemption

H - Wag the Dog

4. If they were going to make a reality show about your life what would it be called?

W & H - "We'll sleep when the kids leave home"
And here is our 5th Question:

We are working on potty training Erik - he does really well for about two hours, going like clockwork, and then he'll go off the rails... should we give up for a while and try again in a few weeks or do you have some tips for us?  (He's 3 years 2 months old)

I love the movie 'Shawshank Redemption', great choice!

Everyone should be skeptical about politics and politicians :(

As for the potty training, don't give up, it will eventually click. Use lots of praise (and even some rewards) for the successful times, and try not to fuss too much about the failures. Persistence is the key!
Keep trying! Make it a routine. Don't be afraid to use public facilities.
From what you're saying, he seems to be getting there. Keep at it .

    Thanks for hosting.
The best thing I can advice on potty training is to try not to stress over it. It just sort happens in its own sweet time. Kids learn at different rates I have found. The daytime potty routine is the first and easiest for most kids to master. Night time takes a bit longer. I think DS (the 3rd of our children and only boy) was three when I prompted him to pull ups. Somewhere between ages 3 and 4, I stepped him up to big boy underwear in hopes of speeding his progress. I figured if he wetted on himself, he wouldn't like it and it wouldn't take long for him to get the idea. I was fortunate. My plan worked. He had a few night time accidents, but it all worked out in time. It just takes a lot of patience. Good luck! Thanks for hosting the MQAM fun!

Don't give up, but don't stress over it either. He'll get it with time.

Might sound idiotic but you could make it a routine taking him in there every couple hours to see if he has to go and then give him a few M&M's or a small toy when he does go? Beyond that I have no idea as I have no children.

My recent post Monday Quiz #MQAM - come and play along!
Happy Monday! With my (now 3 yr old daughter) we started introducing her to the potty around 18 months. It was hit and miss for a good year. Now, she is potty trained at home (still working on when we aren't home). We didn't push it on her. But we worked with her everyday by sitting on the potty every hour. We had her potty chair where she spent most of her time as our bathrooms were upstairs and she eventually got to the point where she didn't need to be told. There were times that she would just sit on her seat, with her diaper still on. We praised her. Lots and lots. She got it. Don't give up! It takes lots of patience and eventually happens. Good luck.
I love Shawshank Redemption - great choice! For the potty training my advice is to follow his cues. He seems like he is starting to get the concept of it. We would take them in on a predictable schedule to "go". Once they went often enough and started learning when they had to go it would click. Rewards worked with our son, but with our daughter it was a different story. He started preschool in September after turning 3 in April (this was many years ago) we trained him during July/August. Now our daughter who just started Kindergarten and turned five in Nov was finally trained in time for starting Kindergarten. She had it down then totally regressed over the summer then was fine for school as long as they took her every time there was a transition such as snack, gym time etc. So maybe wait a bit, each kid is different.
