Here are the Questions:

It's an interesting week on the Holiday Insights calendar that we check out for fun days, so in homage, we are making this week all about special days and weeks...

1. This week is "Garden Week" - do you garden and what progress have you made on this year's garden... Wayne also wants to know what May Flowers you want these April Showers to bring?

2. Monday is No Housework Day - will you celebrate?

3. Wednesday is Name Yourself Day - would you change your name if you could?  and if so, to what?  If not, why not?

4. Friday is 8 Track Tape day - do you remember them?  Did you have one?  What 8 track song will you sing in honor of this day?

Yes we became very aware of Autism because our grandson has it.
Ha! Ha! I love Wayne's choice of 8 track song :) It's a good one!

On a more serious note, we live in a small town, and I, personally, know several boys with Autism! One of our nephews has it, as well as one of our neighbors. My daughter, also, has a friend with two (out of three) sons who have Autism, although one is more severe than the other. My hair dresser's nephew is also Autistic. The stories I've heard from the parents of these children are both gut-wrenching and hair raising, and every day brings a new challenge for all. Our neighbor, with Autism, is now a grown young man. He's spent countless hours just driving an old car (that will only go in low gear) around and around in a large dirt field behind his house. It's his 'happy place'.

Thanks for hosting!
I love Wayne's 8 Track pick too! <3 the Bee Gees!

Fun quiz this week! :D
A few of my students had mild Asperger syndrome. They were hardworking, good students. Somehow, I got along well with them.

My recent post Garden Week, No Housework Day?, and so on.
We had our son assessed for autism a couple years ago, he ended up instead diagnosed with ADD, anxiety disorder, developmental coordinatin disorder and sensory processing disorder. The doctors who assessed him were great and really made it all make sense. That few days though of assessments and meetings was tough though I got to say. We have several friends also who have children with autism and since all my sons symptoms closely mirror those of high functioning autism and as the doctor explained it is all on the same spectrum with those like my son just at the VERY high functioning end of it, we stay closely active with other parents/groups of children with autism.
A few of our patients have a variant of autism. I have to give high props to the parents and family members who are very patient with them.
